Who is Carlyn Carter?
As a human resources consultant serving small businesses and nonprofits across California, I’ve seen how tough it can be to manage hiring, retention, and compliance—especially when you’re growing fast or wearing multiple hats.
You’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I help founders navigate complex employment regulations, build solid HR foundations, and create workplaces where teams thrive.
Social responsibility has driven me my whole life. I bring experience in teaching, research, and social work. And lots of passion and excitement. Since 2020, I’ve helped nonprofits and small businesses comply with HR regulations and build their teams. I’ve earned a BA and an MA in Psychology from USC and an MSHR from Pepperdine.

Harvest is a community for women who are building something – businesses, careers, creative pursuits, and lives they love. We create intentional spaces for real connection, collaboration, and growth. Member-led offerings like this session are at the heart of what Harvest is about: real women sharing real expertise, because we rise better together.
